Lil Greg

That fucking Lele almost ruined everything. I have been here almost an hour trying to get Shante to just remember the good times. All of a sudden, I feel the phone vibrating in my pocket. I know I need to answer it because Lele will continue to call until I did. I have to get up and go to the bathroom just to take the call. Here I am trying to smooth things out with Shante and she is blowing up my phone. I answer and rush her ass of the phone because I have more pressing issues.

When Shante first opened the door, I felt like I was finally where I needed to be. It felt good to walk into my home and see the woman I love waiting for me. Yeah I was truly a free man. She just looked at me at first. She didn’t have much to say. I knew she would not make this easy, so I was prepared.

“Shante, I know that I was not the type of husband you wanted me to be. I know that I have made so many mistakes when it comes to you and our girls… I just want the chance to make things right. I know you still love me and you want our family as much as I do now,” I say trying to take blame.

“Why now Gregory?” is all she asks.

“I have always wanted that… You are my life,” I say trying to make her realize that I am who I am because of her.

“Your life?... At one point in time I actually thought that,” she says looking off into space.

“You were always my life Shante… I know that my actions didn’t show it. I just want the chance to make things right,” I say as I rise from my seat and walk over to sit down beside her.

I need to touch her…God, how I have missed her touch. I reach out and grab her hand. I need her full attention. I want her to see the sincerity in my eyes.

“Shante, I want you to know that I am truly sorry for everything that I have ever done wrong to you,” I say truly sorry.

“What are you sorry for Gregory? Cheating with Lele? Maybe you’re sorry for actually walking away from a woman that truly had your back. I was nothing but loyal to you and look how you returned it,” she says as she looks me right in the eye.

I want to crawl into a hole because she has never looked at me like that before. No matter how mad she may have been, I have always seen a glimpse of love. I may have been arrogant, but I knew all along she still loved me.

“Lele was a mistake. I knew she could never be you. I just got caught up in the streets. I got lost in the hype of being Lil Greg the hustler and forgot about Gregory Harris the man. I bought into my own hype.
